Mini Dental Implants
In a time when computer chips are getting smaller yet faster everyday, dental technology is keeping pace. Mini dental implants, perhaps the width of a toothpick, are now available from many cosmetic dentists. A mini dental implant or MDI, is used to stabilize dentures or a single tooth replacement.
Using a special drill, the MDI’s are inserted into the gums and the dentures or false tooth simply snaps on to the implant ensuring that they will not slip or cause discomfort while eating, talking or in other activities. The procedure itself is painless and easy to perform. It typically requires only one visit and is usually much cheaper than conventional methods. The implants enhance the ability of dentures to perform as normal teeth would by giving them a more solid base.
It is usually not necessary to receive a new set of dentures as most existing dentures and false teeth can be retrofitted to be inline with MDI’s.
